The majority of water damage is not visible to the naked eye either! In order to correctly assess what materials were water damaged or not, special equipment is needed to see what the human eye cannot. When we arrive, we will first determine the category of water that has impacted your home or business.
Category 1 "Clean water" - a water loss that comes from a clean water source is considered a "Category 1 water loss." This type of water loss can be dried out using our commercial dehumidifiers and air movers.
Category 2 "Gray water" - A water loss that comes from a semi-clean source is considered a "category 2 water loss." This type of water loss can be dried out using our commercial dehumidifiers and air movers.
Category 3 "Black water" - A water loss that comes from an unclean source. For example, a sewage backup. This type of water loss cannot just be dried out. Certain materials must be removed and discarded.
We then determine what was impacted. We use our moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to properly assess the damages and see what the naked eye cannot! What do each of these special tools do?
Our thermal imaging cameras pick up temperature differentials in
the materials. For example, When water has impacted drywall, it
will immediately start to evaporate. This evaporation then
causes a cooling effect (just like how your body sweats to cool
you down) which cools the drywall that is affected. The camera
then can see this colder drywall, and will show us what was
impacted and what was not.
Our moisture meters use
electricity to find what is water damaged! Moisture conducts
electricity, and the moisture meter is able to determine exactly
how much moisture is in a material by measuring this
electricity.
Water mitigation involves water extraction and drying out the affected materials. We accomplish this by using commercial dehumidifiers and air movers along with the science of "psychometry".
Our dehumidifiers are able to remove up to 18 gallons of water from the air per day! This drastically drops the relative humidity within the affected environment. This in turn lowers the vapor pressure of the room, which causes the water in the materials to evaporate very quickly!
Additionally, the dehumidifiers help warm up the air in the environment. This allows for more water to evaporate, as well as giving the water in the impacted materials Energy to evaporate even faster!
Our fans help stir the air within the environment so the water within the affected materials can continue to evaporate. Our fans also help deliver the heat from the dehumidifiers to the water-impacted materials, giving the water more energy to further help evaporation occur.
Once we place our equipment, we then continue to monitor the
equipment and environment daily until we have completely dried out
all the affected materials. We will make daily adjustments as
needed to keep the process as short as possible.
After we have completely dried out all of the affected materials, we
then will coordinate getting a General Contractor out to your property
to complete any needed repairs and return your home back to the way
it was before, all while doing it "better than the rest".
